Peer Review Process

Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences is using double-blind peer reviewing system to assure the quality of the publication. All manuscripts should be submitted through our online manuscript management system. The author should first register in our system and then submit their manuscript. We will use Turnitin to check similarities prior to sending to external reviewers. We will notify corresponding authors within one to two months about their manuscript through our online system. Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences depend mostly on external reviewers in addition to the help introduce by internal reviewers.

Publication Ethical Policies:

Processes and policies for identification or dealing with allegations of misconduct (eg, plagiarism, falsification/fabrication of data, etc):

1. Upon plagiarism of manuscript, journal will inform the author(s) to checkout and resubmit again if plagiarism in the introduction or methods, otherwise if plagiarism included in the results then the board will refer the manuscript to the IraqiJMS Publication Ethics Committee (PEC) to take a decision and reject the manuscript and inform the author(s).
2. Detection of fabrication or falsification of data or results in a submitted manuscript, Publication Ethics Committee (PEC) will take a decision and reject the manuscript and inform the author(s).

3. Appeals and Complaints:

   1. If an author has appeals and complaints, please go to contact us and send us an email explain the issue and the journal will deal accordingly. The email will be referred to Publication Ethics Committee (PEC) to study the case and to reply the author. If there is no ethical problem the committee will explain to the author the case and thank him/her for his contact.
   2. If there is an ethical issue then put plan to correct things and inform the readers for this problem and apologize for the misunderstanding. If the issue is related to published article, withdrawal of this article and announce an apology.

4. Conflicts of interest:

   If there is a doubt or a complaint regarding conflicts of interest, the case will be forward to the Publication Ethics Committee (PEC) to study the case and make the decision regarding this conflict and withdraw the article or reject the manuscript.

Data repository

All manuscript and data presented to the IraqiJMS are kept in archive; whether rejected, withdrawn or published, kept according to date of taking the decision for each.

Archiving

The journal has an archiving plan for electronic backup and preservation of access to the journal content in the event that the journal is no longer published in the Iraqi Academic and Scientific Journals:
